A dental hygienist is a dental professional who diagnoses, examines, and treats oral hygiene-related problems. Their primary role is to create awareness about oral cleanliness and offer care to those who are already suffering from dental issues due to unhygienic oral practices. They are employed in a variety of setting including private clinics, government hospitals, residential facility centers, etc.

In order to practice as a dental or oral hygienist, the specialist needs first to acquire license and get registered with a dental association. And for that, they need to complete a bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene, undertake a clinical examination and get certified by an accredited university or college. They work together with dentists, dental therapists, dental technicians, and other oral care specialists.
