There are two types of zygomycetes. One is Mucorales, rapidly growing fungi that infect individuals whose immune system has been compromised due to the intake of drugs like systematic steroids and because of diseases such as diabetes and lymphoma. Zygomycetes are globally known for their characteristics of decaying vegetation and soil. People are infected by zygomycetes through ingestion, inhalation, or contamination of wounds when that comes in contact with environmental sources. Another type of zygomycetes is Entomophthorales, which is an infection restricted to subcutaneous tissue, and it slowly produces chronic disease.
