This NPI number is issued by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to healthcare providers working in the United States. Providers can obtain this number from the National Plan, and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) pages by visiting the CMS website. It takes around one to twenty days to get the National Provider Identifier number.

The NPI is an intelligence-free, 10-position numeric identifier that does not carry any other information about the providers, such as the provider’s location or medical specialty.
