A Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHCs) charges patients for services based on a community-approved sliding-fee scale, which varies patient to patient based on their family size and income. Moreover, the centers also receive cash grants from the federal government and cost reimbursement from Medicaid allotments to patients. For Medicaid beneficiaries, FQHCs provide preventive health services such as hearing screenings, immunization, prenatal and post-partum care, and visual acuity. But preventive dental services, hearing aids, and eyeglasses don’t come under the FQHC coverage.

The centers that come under the category of Federally Qualified Health Centers include Health Centers for Residents of Public Housing, Community Health Centers, and Health Care centers for the Homeless.
