The healthcare or medical office manager needs to have a proper understanding of the job responsibilities of the medical staff to efficiently manage them. As a manager, he/she needs to motivate employees, distribute workload, coordinate with the members for smooth operations, supervise, and manage the medical office functioning. The qualification required to work as a medical office manager may be slightly different based on office strength. For instance, a small practice with less than 15 physicians would look for a medical office manager having prior experience in managing or even ask to undergo job training. For larger offices comprising over 50 physicians, the manager may be required to have advanced degrees and certification in healthcare administration. To further their credentials, medical office managers can take up the Certified Medical Manager test organized by the national association called the Professional Association of Health Care Office Management (PAHCOM).
