Patient data includes medical information of a single patient. Such data may involve a patient’s medical history, diagnosis reports, age, name, treatment history, current illness or health issues, genetic data, lifestyle choices, and even biometric data. This patient data helps healthcare professionals in the diagnosis, treatment, and care of patients. It is based on the single patient and healthcare worker’s interaction during a medical checkup or treatment.

The information that comes under the umbrella term patient data is used to make informed decisions during clinical trials. It is also used for research purpose by healthcare professionals to help in the identification of effective treatment for particular patients. Even before prescribing any new medicine, the doctor may look into the patient data to ensure the patient is not given any medication that may not be suitable for them as in some cases some patients may have allergic reactions to a certain medicine.
